As a consultant, Tom and I worked together (amongst other assignments) on a global ING tool selection board for analytical CRM tools. The board set standards for ING Group on query and research software, data mining tools, campaign management tools, ETL software and Data Warehousing. Tom's input, expertise and high standards were extremely valuable, and contributed highly to the board's success.
In his role as speaker I appreciate Tom for being well-versed, knowledgeable, and an inspiring speaker. He featured on ING in-company conferences I organized for senior management, and his presentations were always very well received.

  1. Enhancing data quality
    Data quality improvement can be achieved in several ways. We define high quality data as being timely, relevant, complete, understood, trusted, and the mother of all data quality: data needs to be accurate. We can make the ‘stretch’ from business needs to technical specifications. Often this entails finding new (marketing or risk) applications for existing data or recommendations for where new interfaces could add business value.
  2. Extracting more value from existing data
    Utilize existing data in ‘smarter’ ways. Examples might include: building Data Mining models to improve campaign ROI, using data to segment customers, gaining insight about customer behavior, defining business growth opportunities, calculating state-of-art profitability measures, feature extraction (deriving new variables from existing data), etc.
  3. Skills transfer

The emphasis invariably is on how to make it actionable tomorrow. We appear regularly at conferences covering areas from Data Mining, website analysis, data quality, privacy, to marketing strategy, data driven decision making, and customer insight.
